About Us
Overview:
It is
well documented and an established fact that horses, ponies and donkeys have
been supporting civilisation and mankind’s development for thousands of years.
They have carried troops into battle, transported our goods, worked our mines,
and supported food production.
However, these beautiful animals are too often
the victims of physical abuse, neglect and abandonment through either a basic
lack of understanding or a blatant disregard for welfare in line with
Horse 4 Life is a HMRC registered Charity located in Hampshire UK with core
UK activities focused on equine rescue, rehabilitation support and
welfare awareness campaigns in line with our charitable constitution.
The Horse 4 Life aim is to raise awareness not only
within the equine communities but to the general public, whenever and wherever
possible, for the advancement of equine welfare in line with the Horse 4 Life constitution and welfare policy.
Aims:
The Horse 4 Life aim is to support
like-minded individuals and welfare groups to increase effectiveness in the promotion
of improving welfare standards through the most appropriate means for the
benefit of all equines.
In order to achieve this, Horse
4 Life aim to raise awareness of the plight of equines to the general
public – promoting, and where possible, (subject to resources) implementing the
following:
- Relieve suffering and support rehabilitation for sick and
ill-treated horses and ponies;
- Provide and maintain rescue homes or other facilities for
unwanted, neglected, sick or ill-treated horses and ponies;
- To promote education in equine management to the general public.
Objective:
Horse 4 Life is structured
on a commitment to ethical practices with set objectives. The following key elements
are essential in the development of the Horse 4 Life forward
strategy and ongoing promotion and to achieve our goals:
- Establish working relationships
with governing bodies;
- Establish working relationships
with other equine organisations;

Equine welfare promotion via media
and promotional literature;
- Promote compliance of statutory
equine welfare standards;
- Promote best practices and
advancement in equine welfare;
- Be proactive locally,
regionally, and across the UK.
Horse 4 Life is
committed to partnering where possible with governing / commercial bodies, and
implementing a philosophy of continued improvement within all disciplines of
equine welfare management to satisfy relevant local, national, international,
ethical, legal and statutory compliance.
Core Activities:
- Promote other equine welfare organisations work, appeals,
press releases and fundraising events via our internet media;
- Donate hay and feed whenever possible to support equine
crisis;
- Encourage the general public to support equine charities;
- Promote through a variety of mediums UK and regional awareness in equine
welfare and education;
- Encourage UK business to take up payroll
giving schemes and employee fundraising to support Horse 4 Life activities or alternative
equine charities for the good of all equines.
